Miranda Wightman

Chair

St John’s Foundation Governor

I have been Chair of Governors for the last 4 years. My 2 children were both educated at St John’s and St Clement’s School, one is at Secondary School and the other is now at University. I enjoy still being involved with the school and we are committed to providing the best education for the children in the school in a happy and thriving environment.

I have been a governor for 12 years and am currently a Foundation Governor for St John’s Church. I work for BT as a Senior Project Manager.

Headteacher

I joined St John’s and St Clement’s Primary School as Head teacher in September 2016. I am working closely with the governing body to develop the learning and teaching at the school so we provide the best possible education for our children. Children are at the heart of all I do and I have two young children of my own.

Local Authority Governor (Vice-Chair)

It’s fantastic being a school governor at St John’s and St Clements. I am now in my 3rd year as local authority appointed governor. My 5 year old daughter Alicia in 1I on her first day at school pointed at my photo on the school notice board and said “that’s like you dad, do you work here?” Well, I work in the largest transplant centre in Europe at Kings College Hospital. I am also a director of London Mutual Credit Union, a community bank. I bring my strategic insight and financial skills to the school which enable me and other governors to make hard decisions for the benefit all pupils and the school. My role as chair of Finance and Resource Committee is to ensure we make right decisions about the school’s budget and staffing. As chair I ensure that all proceedings are fair and every voice heard. My motto as a school governor is to ask challenging questions which are focussed on improvement and hold the head and senior leaders to account for pupils’ outcome. In my spare time I enjoy running marathons.

Rev'd Gill O'Neill

St John's Foundation Governor

I joined the governing body in 2016 when I became Vicar of the church of St John the Evangelist, East Dulwich, and I currently chair the Pupil, Parent and Community Committee. When I started, I had one child at St John’s and St Clement’s, who has now joined my older child at secondary school. Before I was a Vicar, I was a secondary teacher in Southwark for 10 years. I think St John’s and St Clement’s is fantastic, and achieves that perfect educational balance of challenge and nurture. I hope that all children are happy in school, so that they can grow and learn together. In my spare time, I love walks in the park with our dog, going on camping holidays, and reading lots of books.

Parent Governor

I have a child in Year 1 and love the friendly and dynamic atmosphere at the school. I am delighted to be involved as a parent governor. I am passionate about cultural learning and love that creativity, inclusivity and challenge are highly valued at St John’s and St Clement’s.

My work in the Arts focuses on external affairs and partnerships and I hope to bring these skills to the governing body.
